Mrs. Hastings
Mrs. Hastings received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas, Austin. She served as a mentor teacher and computer teacher for two years while in Texas. She came to Doyle in 1999 as a building substitute and has never left. Mrs. Hastings taught fourth grade for five years, then moved down to the south wing where she taught first grade for six years. During that time, she completed her masters of education degree at Gratz University and wrote her thesis on effective writing instruction. Since then, she completed a second 'tour' in fourth grade and taught second grade for two years. She is happy to have migrated back to her old home in fourth grade six years ago.
Mrs. Hastings enjoys spending time exploring nature with her husband Matt and their three adult children: Joe, 32; Emma, 29, and Jenna, 26. She is the proud Mimi to two grandsons: Jackson Christopher Arnold, who was born in February of 2019, and Theo Emmett Arnold, who celebrated his first birthday on July 24th. She personally loves traveling, relaxing with a good book, dabbling in all types of arts and crafts, experimenting with new recipes, decorating and painting furniture, attending concerts and music festivals, and exploring nature on long hikes and bike rides. And of course, she LOVES teaching and being a 'Mimi'!
