KWestMrs. West has been at Buckingham since 2020, first as a Personal Care Aide in Autistic Support and then in 2024 as a learning support teacher. Before Mrs. West discovered her interest in special education, she assisted in an adult English as a Second Language (ESL) classroom in Philadelphia, where she worked with immigrants and refugees. From there, Mrs. West went on to teach ESL in China and Laos. In Laos, she learned to integrate cultural customs and practices into her classroom, where she taught novice monks and Lao children. In China, she taught ESL, English Language Arts (ELA), Public Speaking, and Drama to high schoolers. In December 2024, she married her two passions with a master’s from Kutztown University in Multicultural Special Education. Mrs. West believes everyone has a unique set of talents that once identified, can provide a purpose-driven life. Her purpose is to a) empower others by helping them find confidence in their self, knowledge and skill set; and b) generate curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.
