Â鶹´«Ã½ Energy Reduction Initiative
The Â鶹´«Ã½ Bucks School District seeks to lessen its impact on the environment and undergo cost savings by increasing energy efficiency and reducing energy usage. In 2007, Â鶹´«Ã½ launched the Energy Reduction Initiative, and since then the district has reduced electrical and natural gas energy usage, saved millions of dollars, and decreased its energy demand. During summers, faculty and staff work a 4 day week, allowing the school district to save an additional amount of energy on the long weekends. Solar panels have been installed on all 3 of our high schools and 2 middle schools, providing clean energy to our schools.Through the use of energy efficient lighting and equipment we strive to operate our facilities with the greatest efficiency possible.
By incorporating sustainability goals into the renovation projects within the school district, Â鶹´«Ã½ is creating efficiently-operating schools that save energy and money. Â鶹´«Ã½ saves energy while maintaining good lighting quality using energy-efficient lighting options and by installing efficient heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC). Â鶹´«Ã½ also lessens its environmental impact by using low-flow water fixtures at sinks, resulting in the usage of less water.
In the Fall of 2024, Â鶹´«Ã½ purchased our first electric vehicle under a pilot program to evaluate use of EVs for operational purposes and traveling from school to school.
