The Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) and its regulations require public school districts and non-profit schools, including charter schools and schools affiliated with religious institutions, to inspect their schools for asbestos-containing building materials, to prepare management plans and to take action to prevent or reduce asbestos hazards. The District completed the required AHERA (40 CFR Part 763.85) three-year re-inspection of the nine (9) elementary schools, four (4) middle schools, two (2) high schools and one (1) support building that contain asbestos.
All identified and assumed asbestos-containing materials (ACM) were visually re-inspected from March 29, 2023 through March 30, 2023 according to 40 CFR Part 763 to determine their condition. The response actions and assessment forms will be inserted into the respective sections of the original Management Plan located at each facility. The 3 year full AHERA inspection was completed on August 1, 2023 through August 2, 2023.
